General Information

Before using the examples, it must be possible for SQLMerger to log into the databases. This is configured in the "Database" tab, in the main window. You can either log in via ODBC aliases or log in directly into the databases, for a number of database types (SQL Server, MySQL, Sybase, and many more).

Generic ODBC log in

Via ODBC you can log into any database. However it can sometimes be a little work to establish a functioning ODBC alias in Windows. You can find lots of resources on the Internet on this topic. We only offer support regarding the establishment of ODBC aliases, for a fee. The last of the guides ("Connect to all databases via ODBC aliases)") shows you one example of setting up an ODBC alias, and explains how to use ODBC aliases.

Once this is done, i.e. connection information is specified, SQLMerger can log into the database whenever needed. You can also log on immediately, to test, by clicking one of the "Connected" check boxes.
SQLMerger can log into all databases where you have first created an ODBC alias.
